sometimes i will snap photos without even looking through the view finder…most end up as trash…but sometimes i get some that i think are worth keeping. in their own little way they say something…i highly recommend you try it….you would be surprised what you may get in the end.

last week we painted. (for the first time) and i. have. created. a. monster! she now requests to “cor-cor” about 100 million times a day. ::sigh:: clearly she enjoyed creating her lovely pieces of art work. every time she would finish painting a color i would ask her if she would like more colors…with each new color i would tell her what color it was and she REPEATED them back to me. (which clearly was not “red mama…this color is red” it was more like “ed” but you get the point. (she is on the road to brilliance i tell you.)

{now before you feel the need to email me: 1. yes i know she needs her nails cut..because it looks as though she could scratch an eye out. crisis has been averted. and 2. i am all for her figuring out the hard way the paint…does not taste good.}

we have a small fascination with bras and bewbs lately. or as she likes to call them “dra” and “doob” so much of a facinations that sometimes we get a little upset that mama is wearing the “dra.”

e: “dra?”

me: “yes thats mama’s bra.”

e: “doob?”

me: “uh huh…those are mama’s boobs.”

e: “dra” ::insert whiney voice while pulling bra straps followed by tears::

::sigh:: i really hope she won’t one of those kids that wants their first bra at age 4. for now i am happy to let her play with mine…and she does so just fine. walking around quite proudly wearing her “dra.” it is kinda cute…no?

*photos are completely out of focus…settings were horrible. (i was scrambling) this was an attempt to “save” a photo…you don’t even want to see the sooc…its pretty sad…lol. but i couldn’t resist how cute she looked.

do you ever have completely irrational fears or thoughts…the thoughts of “what ifs” quickly followed by the reassuming thoughts of “but it didn’t and it won’t” which then are followed by “you are completely crazy to even have thought of such a thing” which is then followed by a sick feeling in your stomach.

or do you ever have anxiety after listening to your child “cry it out” at bedtime? do you ever wonder if she is panicked because you have left her in her crib?

does a simple little hug and a kiss from someone so small bring tears to your eyes? not because your sad…but because you love them so much your only other alternative to exploding is to tear up.

do you ever sit in a dark room rocking your child to sleep…and think to yourself…i hope i don’t ever forget what moments like this feel like? but worry that you will?

i most certainly don’t ::side eyed::

oh yeah…and i don’t still crouch down to check if she is breathing before i go to bed ::side eyed again::

for the past week or so ella has found a new “friend.” they play in the morning in front of the kitchen table, while the light comes streaming in the window. when they first met she was a little puzzled…but now most mornings i find her running back and forth watching behind her to make sure her “friend” is following.

we had a great time while visiting the cape for a friend’s wedding last weekend. i wish we were away for longer. starting next year i am making mandatory that we get away from the farm for a week of family time. ella travels pretty well. we headed out in the morning and stopped at the zoo on our way. (there will be no photos from the zoo…i took some…but seriously…i have no idea what we were thinking going to the zoo on a 100′ day. there are all of 5 photos…and they are nothing to write home about…ella isn’t even in them.) anyway…so we did the zoo…and then continued on…in the AC (thank gawd!) the little one napped and chris and i chatted while we drove. once we arrived we checked in and went out to grab dinner down town.

ella slept great! she was asleep by 8:30pm in her pack and play and chris and i stayed up and watched a movie….um and she slept till 7:30 the next morning…not a peep! we hit the beach after breakfast the next day (there are photos from breakfast…but they aren’t pretty…my child slept great…i on the other hand did not.)

she LOVED the beach. actually LOVED is an understatement. these are photos from saturday before the wedding at the beach and again on sunday before we headed home. all around it was such a great mini vacation. hopefully next summer we will get away for longer…i just adore time with my little family. it makes me super happy.

it has been a crazy couple of weeks. we had 2 little vacations…one wedding and lots of driving! i have an insane amount of photos to catch up on but i hope to get things together to share our adventures soon.

and i must say…ella…is an awesome little traveler….in the car. we have yet to fly anywhere with her…but if she can put up with the car like she had to…i think flying will be a breeze!

we had quite the week…98+ degree temperatures. and to top it all off we had not seen a drop of rain in weeks. finally we got some relief today. it torrentially poured for and hour. not so sure if it really is going to help the fruit trees out or not. after we put ella down for the night and were getting ready to grill…this was our view. to me its better than a rainbow.

*and this is not doctored up…all i did was darken the shadows a bit…so you can’t see the ugly piece of crap backhoe that was totally ruining the shot.

i made a page for facebook. curious what kind of response i will get for it. i figure maybe knowing i have readers waiting on the edge of their seats…might actually encourage me to write. so follow the link over to the left…and “like” us…if you like us!

for months she has had her own cabinet…filled with tupperware…sippy cups that didn’t make the cut…measuring spoons…you know…fun stuff?!?! she had no interest in any other cabinets…awesome…score for me! well…she has discovered the other cabinets…and all the other fun stuff that i have been keeping from her…the stand-up mixer…a panini press…actual tupperware i “use.” and the topper…well…she fits perfectly inside the cabinet.

to be honest…i can’t handle her getting in this cabinet. i was okay with her having her “own” cabinet…everyday…i would go around and pick up her trail of cabinet innards…put them away…only for her to go and take  them all out again. but now on the daily i am finding i have no good tupperware…because it is mixed in with “her” tupperware…and when chris got up this morning at 5am…he had no to-go coffee mug because she had stashed it in her ladybug tent…and obviously he didn’t think to look there.

needless to say…i need to go and buy some extra childproof locks.
